Witches With Dicks- Manual CD
I consider myself to be a pop punk aficionado, in fact I love it! I love Screeching Weasel, Green Day, Dillinger Four, Crimpshrine (hell, everything Cometbus has done) and most of the other non generic pop punk bands. Lately there has been a resurgence of bands that are not ashamed to call themselves pop punk after it has been besmirched by shitty bands like MXPX, Blink 182 or stupid inane bands of the ilk. With that said, Witches With Dicks are one of those bands that are not ashamed to lump themselves into what people commonly consider a dead genre in the punk rock world.
Witches With Dicks admittedly take cues from some of punk rocks veterans like Jawbreaker, the Lemonheads, the Replacements and Screeching Weasel which would put them in good company. The 10 songs that Witches With Dicks bang out sound to me like a cross between the Jack Palance Band and Dillinger Four, bearing a somewhat similar approach to playing as say the Pink Razors. These songs are filled with no frills, stripped down pop punk. Lyrically they are somewhere in between songs about girls and political anthems, keeping them more on the personal tip. One thing I noticed is that they leave room for future progression, similar to how when you listened to American Steel you kind of pick up hints as to what was coming next. It’s going to be interesting to see how they mature as time goes by. I am a fan of their previous works, and if you are too then this should be right up you alley.

Holy Christ, that’s got to be one of the worst band names I’ve ever heard. Regardless, might just wind up grabbing this based off your review.
